Max Borghi, Washington State

Measurables: 5-10, 205

Pro Comp: Christian McCaffrey

Draft Projection: Round 2-3

Right off the bat, I know what you are thinking; Christian McCaffrey is way too good of a pro comp for Max Borghi. However, watch some Borghi tape, and you will quickly see what I am getting at. Borghi is not to the level of McCaffrey in college, and likely will not be in the pros. However, he offers a very similar skillset that the Buffalo Bills can utilize in a very similar way the Panthers utilize McCaffrey.

Borghi has never averaged less than five yards per carry in his collegiate career and has added a whopping 152 receptions in only 37 games.

While Borghi is known much more for his receiving ability, he can develop into a very solid running back. What helps Borghi in college is the air raid offense that Mike Leach runs at Washington State. In this offense, Borghi has elementary running concepts to work with where he often does not do anything but hit an open hole. Borghi will have to work on his vision as a ball carrier and prove that he can be reliable given the ball out of the backfield.

What makes Borghi an intriguing prospect for Buffalo is that he can slowly be integrated into the offense. Borghi could start as strictly a 3rd down back on the field as a receiving weapon in certain situations. In this scenario, Buffalo would not wholly overhaul their running back room but instead have much more versatility amongst the roster’s backs.
