Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: How to watch and final thoughts
It will be interesting to see how Brian Daboll manages Josh Allen with his primary backup on the COVID-19 list
It was reported on Saturday that backup quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky, would be placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Other additions to the reserve list were practice squad quarterback Jake Fromm and wide receiver Tanner Gentry. These transactions leave Davis Webb as Allen’s backup when the game kicks off.
Webb has done some nice things for the Bills off the field. But his performances on the field in the preseason were inconsistent. Webb has yet to play in an NFL game that counts in the standings. So if Allen goes down for any reason, Bills fans should be prepared for a roller coaster.
Additionally, in the past few weeks, Buffalo has executed several designed running plays for Allen. Granted, quarterbacks usually get injured while in the pocket, but designed runs theoretically increase those chances. Therefore, although Daboll has incorporated more planned runs for Allen in recent weeks, it will be interesting to see how the game is called with Trubisky not available to play if the need were to arise.
