Buffalo Bills: 4 bold predictions in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars
Bold Prediction #4: Buffalo Bills don’t sack Trevor Lawrence
The pass rush got off to a good start this season but hasn’t been nearly as productive. This week it likely doesn’t get any better as Trevor Lawrence has done a good job avoiding sacks this season. In fact, he has been sacked only 11 times this season which is one of the lowest totals among starting quarterbacks.
Even if the Bills aren’t able to sack the number one overall draft pick, the defensive line can still make an impact and disrupt Lawrence. It will be important to move Lawrence off his spots, limit his time in the pocket and get him throwing off balance. This can help the defense force him into mistakes and possibly interceptions.
This is a game where a player like Ed Oliver could really make an impact. The former first round pick is coming off one of his better games of the season for doing exactly what I am describing. He was getting pressure, collapsing the pocket, and limiting the time Tua Tagovailoa had to throw the ball.
This is not going to be a week the Buffalo Bills register big sack numbers but the defensive line will be a key part to the defense’s success against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
