For the second straight practice, the Buffalo Bills were without their starting right tackle.

The Buffalo Bills coming out of the bye week has one of their shorter injury reports of the season however they could be missing a key piece of their offensive line on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills’ third round pick, Spencer Brown, has now missed his second straight practice due to a back injury.

While the Buffalo Bills do have one more practice this week, it would be surprising to see Spencer Brown play this weekend. This now raises the question of how they replace him for the game against the Dolphins.

What will the starting offensive line look like for the Buffalo Bills if Spencer Brown can’t play?

The coaching staff will have a few options when looking at who they currently have on the roster. One option is to go back to the starting offensive line they had at the beginning of the season with Daryl Williams as the starting right tackle and Cody Ford as the starting right guard.

However, the team made a switch back in Week 4 because this group wasn’t playing particularly well. If the Bills don’t want to go back to that starting five, they could put Ike Boettger in at right guard to play alongside Daryl Williams.

When given the opportunity, Boettger has played well and could be a nice option at guard. The third option, and probably the most unlikely, is to keep Williams at right guard (where he also has played well) and start Cody Ford at right tackle.

This is where Ford played as a rookie in 2019 and had an up and down season. The thought was he was better suited as a guard and that has been his position over the past two years.

In addition to Brown, the Buffalo Bills were without Boogie Basham (illness), Dawson Knox (hand) and Emmanuel Sanders (vet rest). The Bills did get back Beasley on Thursday who sat out Wednesday for a vet day while defensive tackle Justin Zimmer was limited for the second straight day with a foot injury.
