The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice field after their bye week but were without a few starters. One of the players wasn’t surprising as Dawson Knox suffered a broken hand two weeks ago against the Tennessee Titans.

Sean McDermott was asked about Knox before practice on Wednesday and said he would miss this week but didn’t have a timeline of when he would be back, according to Maddy Glab. He will be replaced this week by backup tight end Tommy Sweeney.

The other player who missed Wednesday’s practice was a little more surprising as starting right tackle Spencer Brown missed it due to a back injury. The third round draft pick was moved into the starting lineup back in Week 4 with Daryl Williams moving inside to right guard.

Brown has started each of the past three weeks and for the most part, has played well. If the rookie is not able to play, the Buffalo Bills will have some options. They could elect to move Daryl Williams back to right tackle and play either Cody Ford or Ike Boettger at guard.

Another option is to leave Williams at guard and play Cody Ford at right tackle. The former second round pick was primarily a right tackle as a rookie in 2019 but played guard last year. This is certainly one position worth watching closely heading into the division game with the Dolphins.

The rest of the injury report was relatively short with wide receiver Cole Beasley not practicing on Wednesday for veteran rest. The final player on the injury report was defensive tackle Justin Zimmer who was limited with a foot injury.

He has been a key part of the rotation at defensive tackle and if he is not able to go, the Bills could look to Boogie Basham or Efe Obada as replacements along with Vernon Butler or Harrison Phillips.
