Honorable Mentions

For the second straight week, Dallas Cowboys’ cornerback Trevon Diggs is in the honorable mentions. He has now started the year with an interception in every game and has seven total on the season, including two returned for a touchdown.

It has been over 30 years since the last time a defensive player has won the MVP award when Lawrence Taylor did it in 1986. He is still a long shot and it seems unlikely he can continue this trend. Right now, Diggs has more interceptions than 27 teams and is tied with the Bucs, who rank fifth in the NFL in the category, at seven.

However, if he continues to force turnovers like he has, he should absolutely earn some MVP votes.

One player who was in the rankings last week but dropped out due to his performance is Justin Herbert. The Los Angeles Chargers quarterback struggled against the Ravens with only 195 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

The margin right now is so small that one bad game can drop players from the rankings but he can certainly get back in the discussion with a few good weeks.
