The defense will succeed by containing the run

Buffalo needs to sell out for the run early and often to contain Derrick Henry. Tennessee uses the run-game to open up everything else in their offense; quarterback runs, play-action pass, and its quick passing game.

Derrick Henry has rushed for 100 yards in every game this season since Week 1. His bulldozing rushing style accompanied by unearthly speed, for a back his size, is a dynamic combination and undoubtedly forces defenders to make business decisions on every tackle.

The Titans rely heavily on Henry. Through the last four weeks, Henry has not toted the ball less than 28 times per game and the Titans are averaging more than 150 rushing yards in each contest. Henry is the heartbeat of Tennessee’s offense. And if the Bills are susceptible to the run, it’s going to be a long evening for the defense.

If the Buffalo Bills can stuff the run, they’ll force longer down and distances, causing the Titans to become one dimensional. This plays right into Buffalo’s hands, with their exceptional pass defense.
