Vernon Butler

Last year, Vernon Butler was a key part of this defensive line and started nine games for the Buffalo Bills. However, this season the defense got Star Lotulelei back after he missed last year after opting out.

This moved Butler down the depth chart and he has seen his playing time steadily decrease each week to the point he has been inactive the past two games. This past week, the Bills had only three defensive tackles active with Ed Oliver and Justin Zimmer joining Lotulelei. They also had Efe Obada and rookie Boogie Basham line up inside on passing downs.

It appears, unless there is an injury, Butler likely won’t have a big role this season. While he may not be apart of the Bills rotation, he is still a good defensive tackle that can help another team. The return may not be great but considering he is in the final year of his deal, it is certainly worth exploring the trade market.
