Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans: Final score prediction for Week 4 matchup
By Aaron Tully
The Buffalo Bills will look to improve to 3-1 on the 2021 campaign against the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Texans are 1-2 and coming off a 24-9 loss to Carolina in which they were held to under 200 yards of offense.
Ever since former Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor went down with a hamstring strain in Week 2 against the Browns, the Texans have been hopelessly inept on offense. That’s not necessarily the fault of anyone on the Houston offense, however. They are running the offense through rookie quarterback Davis Mills, who was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Despite Mills’ struggles to get the offense going, he has posted the highest passer rating of all rookie quarterbacks so far (80.9). Mills is also the only rookie quarterback who has not thrown more interceptions than touchdown passes thus far.
Buffalo’s offense is trending completely in the other direction following a Week 3 coming-out party against Washington. The Buffalo offense racked up 481 total yards of offense against Washington, including 359 yards through the air. Josh Allen was back in full gear against Washington, posting 367 yards of offense and five touchdowns. Allen flashed unprecedented chemistry with Emmanuel Sanders, connecting for five catches, 94 yards, and two touchdowns. When throwing to Sanders, Allen posted a perfect passer rating (158.3).
The Bills’ defense continued their hot start to the 2021 season, forcing three turnovers against Washington and allowing just 290 yards of offense. The Buffalo defense was also excellent on third down, holding Washington to just two conversions in 11 tries.
The secondary was also fantastic for the Bills. Both Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer intercepted Taylor Heinicke, proving why they are still among the league’s best safety tandems. While Jordan Poyer is ruled out this week, the Bills should have enough talent to overcome his absence.
Linebackers Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano were all over the field, registering a combined 13 tackles (11 solo), and three tackles for loss.
The Bills and Texans are two teams at the opposite ends of the talent spectrum. The Bills are clearly the better team with more momentum and cohesion.
Final Score Prediction: Buffalo Bills 31, Houston Texans 10
Given each team’s current circumstances, the Bills should win this game comfortably. The Buffalo Bills will defeat the Houston Texans 31-10 to improve to 3-1 on the season.
