The Buffalo Bills injury report for Week 4 includes two starters being ruled out
The Buffalo Bills will be entering their Week 4 matchup with the Houston Texans without two starters, safety Jordan Poyer and offensive lineman Jon Feliciano. It wasn’t necessarily a surprise that both players were ruled out as they weren’t able to practice much this week.
For Poyer, he is dealing with an ankle injury suffered towards the end of the Bills game against the Washington Football Team in Week 3. He was not able to practice at all this week due to the injury and Sean McDermott was not ready to name his replacement on Friday, according to Matt Parrino.
As Parrino notes, this could be just to keep the Texans guessing but all signs are pointing to Jaquan Johnson seeing most of the work in place of Poyer. Johnson was a sixth round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2019 but has seen limited action over the past three seasons with only 119 defensive snaps and no career starts.
This will be a great opportunity for Johnson to get extended playing time and a chance for the coaching staff to evaluate the safety.
Ike Boettger should return to the Buffalo Bills starting lineup
Last season, the Buffalo Bills were seemingly shuffling their offensive line on a weekly basis to start the year due to injuries. However, in the second half of the year, the Bills were able to get some consistency and one of those players who were a part of that line was Ike Boettger and he finished 2020 with seven starts at guard.
This season, Boettger has primarily been a backup with Cody Ford and Jon Feliciano as their starters. However, Feliciano will miss this week due to a concussion which should open the door for Boettger to return to the starting lineup although Sean McDermott once again said they are still working through that, according to Heather Prusak.
The past two weeks, the offensive line has played well both protecting Josh Allen but also creating running lanes for Devin Singletary and Zack Moss. It will be worth watching if this production is able to continue on Sunday against the Houston Texans.
The two other players on the Buffalo Bills’ injury report for Week 4 are cornerback Taron Johnson and defensive end Efe Obada, who are both questionable.
