One of the often-overlooked strengths of this Bills team lies in its safety play, but Washington figured out on Sunday just how impressive the tandem of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer can be.

Hyde, specifically, had a very impressive game on Sunday. The 30-year-old recorded four tackles, two passes defended, and his first interception of the season.

With Washington pinned deep in its own territory, Hyde jumped a Taylor Heinicke pass intended for wide receiver Adam Humphries. The pick marked the 18th of his career and his 10th since joining the Bills in 2017.

Hyde is one of the leaders of this fairly inexperienced defense, and its games like the one he had on Sunday that help elevate the entire unit.  Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier spoke on the importance of both Hyde and Poyer after the victory, according to Heather Prusak.

Against the high-powered passing attacks, the NFL has to offer, Hyde and the rest of this secondary will need to have more performances like the one on Sunday.
