While the Buffalo Bills are scheduled to play the Houston Texans this weekend, arguably the biggest game on the schedule looms large the following week against the Kansas City Chiefs. That primetime game got just a little bit more intriguing with the news on Monday.

According to multiple reports, including from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to sign recently re-instated Josh Gordon. The Chiefs already had an excellent offense with players like Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce but adding another playmaker like Josh Gordon makes this group even tougher.

Plenty of uncertainty for the Buffalo Bills entering Week 5 matchup

The biggest challenge is that there is a lot of uncertainty around Josh Gordon and the Bills are unlikely to get any kind of film on the former Pro Bowl wide receiver prior to their Week 5 matchup.

While he is expected to sign this week, it remains to be seen if he plays for the Chiefs in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. If he doesn’t play, the Buffalo Bills won’t know how he used in this offense or what kind of impact he could have at this point in his career.

He has dealt with a number of suspensions over the past few years and hasn’t played a game since 2019 when he split time between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. Since the 2013 season, when he played 14 games, he has only played 33 total games over six seasons.

However, when he was with the New England Patriots over the 2018 and 2019 season he played 17 games and had 60 receptions for 1,007 receiving yards and four touchdowns while averaging 16.8 yards per reception. At least during that stretch, he showed he could still produce in short bursts.

Now two years removed from that and at 30 years of age, it remains to be seen if Josh Gordon can replicate what he did with the Patriots. However, with the players the Chiefs have in this offense, especially at quarterback, Gordon could be trouble for defenses.

Unfortunately for the Buffalo Bills, they may be the first team that has to face this new Kansas City Chiefs offense which will certainly be a disadvantage. This was the game most Buffalo Bills fans looked for when the schedule was released and there were going to be plenty of storylines.
