Defensive End
Greg Rousseau continues to play well in the early part of his rookie season and while he didn’t have any sacks, he did have four total tackles. It was a quiet week from the rest of the position as A.J. Epenesa had only one total tackle, while Mario Addison and Jerry Hughes didn’t record any tackles.
This is not surprising as Taylor Heinicke does a good job of getting the ball to avoid taking sacks. However, he did have two interceptions and the Bills’ pass rush deserves a little credit in putting some pressure to force him into those mistakes.

Defensive Tackle
The Washington Football Team got almost nothing going on the ground even though they have a good running back in Antonio Gibson. This is due in large part to the interior of the defensive line with players like Star Lotulelei, Ed Oliver, and Vernon Butler.
Star Lotulelei seems to be the key to this group as he does a lot of the little things that don’t end up in the box score that makes his teammates around him better. While he still did those things, he also added three total tackles and a sack.
Final Grade: A-
Linebacker
Matt Milano continues to play at a high level and is arguably the best player on this defense right now. He continues to make impact plays like the fumble recovery or the tackle for a loss on fourth down in the second half.
He finished the game with six total tackles, two tackles for a loss, and one pass defended. His teammate, Tremaine Edmunds led the team in total tackles with seven and is also playing well to start the year.

Secondary
The Buffalo Bills finished the game with three turnovers, which were all possible by players in the secondary. The team’s starting safeties, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, each had an interception while Tre’Davious White forced the fumble that was recovered by Matt Milano.

The Bills’ defense limited Taylor Heinicke to only 212 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and two interceptions. They did a good job, in particular, limiting Terry McLaurin who had four receptions for 62 yards which was well below what he did the week prior against the New York Giants (11 receptions, 107 receiving yards, one touchdown).
