The best quarterback will win the game for his team

Josh Allen signed a new contract this past offseason awarding him $150 million in guaranteed money. And as the saying goes, “to whom much is given, much is required.” Allen’s slow start is even more pronounced because of his new deal and the expectations of him to duplicate his play of last year.

Many experts around the NFL picked Allen to lead the Bills to the Super Bowl and win the 2021 NFL MVP. Bills Mafia also expected the quarterback to start the season guns-a-blazing after his 2020 campaign and his near-perfect play in Week 3 of the preseason. Up to this point, Allen has fallen short of these predictions, but he has the opportunity to turn the corner on Sunday and build on improved performance.

Taylor Heinicke leads the league in sack percentage, meaning he isn’t sacked as often as other signal-callers. He is also Top 10 in completion percentage. Heinicke can get rid of the ball quickly, evade defenders in the pocket, or take off running if he has a lane. He doesn’t have the pedigree of Allen as an undrafted free agent, but he has a skill set that teams around the league can win with.

Buffalo’s defense has an unusual task on its hands. They’ll have to defend a quarterback who they don’t have a ton of tape on.  And Washington will likely continue blitzing defenders to generate a pass rush. The quarterback who gets the most out of their offense on Sunday will win the game.
