Battle of the defensive lines

The Washington Football Team has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL and has invested serious draft capital over the past few years. In fact, they drafted a defensive lineman in the first round four straight years from 2017 to 2020 with the selection of defensive tackle Jonathan Allen (2017), defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne (2018), defensive end Chase Young (2019), and defensive end Montez Sweat (2020).

The Buffalo Bills have taken a similar approach and have drafted four defensive linemen in the past three years in either the first or second round. In this most recent NFL Draft the Bills drafted defensive end Greg Rousseau and defensive end Boogie Basham with their first and second round picks while using their second round pick in 2020 on A.J. Epenesa and their first round pick on defensive tackle Ed Oliver.

The play of Rousseau and Epenesa through the first two games has to be encouraging for the Buffalo Bills as both players have made an impact for this defense.
