Bleacher Report: Buffalo Bills fall to no. 7 in these rankings

Current Rank: 7
Last Week: 5

Bleacher Report started the season not viewing the Bills very highly in their preseason rankings. And even after a dominating win last week, Buffalo falls two spots on the list.

"“The Bills allowed only 216 yards of offense, forced three turnovers and knocked Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa out of the game. They also got their ground game going, averaging 4.8 yards per carry on 30 attempts and scoring three touchdowns. But if you look deeper into the blowout, there’s at least one reason for some concern. For the second straight game, quarterback Josh Allen wasn’t especially effective. He finished 17-of-33 for 179 yards, two scores and an interception, and he had a passer rating of only 75.2.” —Bleacher Report NFL Staff"

Josh Allen has endured a rocky start to the season. But teams have studied the Bills’ offense and are implementing successful defensive tactics to confuse Allen and force the fourth-year quarterback into making perfect throws.

There’s no doubt that Allen is not playing his best football. To start the season he is completing less than 60 percent of his passes. That’s not winning football for an offense. Thankfully, the Bills’ defense has been able to carry the load thus far this season. But a matchup against the Chiefs in Week 5 may require Allen to play his best football of the young season.

Must Read. 3 Buffalo Bills with work to do before Week 3. light

It’s only Week 3 and the Bills are still largely considered the second or third-best team in the AFC throughout most media circles. Buffalo has work to do at the quarterback position, even after a 35-0 curb stomping of a division rival. If the defense can continue their exceptional play and the offense begins to mesh, the Bills will be at the top of these lists and headed to Los Angeles in early February for a shot at a Lombardi.
