It was another impressive game for the Buffalo Bills first round pick in Week 2.

In past years, the Buffalo Bills have seen a number of their draft picks make an impact in their first year with the team. This year is likely to be different if the first two games are an indication, that it really is going to be only one player making an impact.

The first two games, Greg Rousseau has become the key pass rusher for the Buffalo Bills at a position that they rotate players pretty frequently. In Week 1, Rousseau got the start and then this past week against the Dolphins he got the start but also saw the most snaps among defensive ends with 49 snaps.

This was 15 more snaps than the next defensive end who was A.J. Epenesa with 34. The team could have elected to give Rousseau the extra work in a blowout game while resting starters or they view Rousseau as a bigger part of this defense.

Regardless of the reasoning for the extra snaps, Rousseau had a big game for this defense with five total tackles and two sacks. He continues to improve and looks to be on track to having a big season for this defense.

The Buffalo Bills had two other players active against the Miami Dolphins was offensive tackle Spencer Brown, who played seven snaps on offense and six on special teams.

While Damar Hamlin got a chance to play defense in the blowout win, playing 18 snaps on defense and four snaps on special teams. He had zero tackles but did have one pass defended.

Rest of the Buffalo Bills 2021 draft picks

The Buffalo Bills had two of their draft picks who are on the 53-man roster inactive for Week 2 were defensive end Boogie Basham and offensive tackle Tommy Doyle. This is the second straight game that both are inactive for game day.

The biggest surprise certainly has to be Boogie Basham, who was drafted and viewed as a player NFL-ready that could contribute as a rookie. However, depth at the position could be pushing Basham down the depth chart and it will be interesting to see if he can move into the rotation this season.

The Buffalo Bills also had Marquez Stevenson on the initial 53-man roster but was placed on injured reserve shortly after that and before Week 1. He will need to be inactive for this week’s game against the Washington Football Team and could be back in Week 4 against the Houston Texans.

The other two draft picks the Buffalo Bills made were cornerback Rachad Wildgoose and offensive lineman Jack Anderson. Both of these players were released but brought back as members of the practice squad.

However, one of them is no longer with the team as the Philadelphia Eagles signed Jack Anderson off the practice squad this week.
