The Buffalo Bills continued their recent domination over the rival Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon in South Florida.

The Bills got off to a flawless start and never looked back. After forcing a three and out on the first Dolphins drive the Bills responded quickly, on their second play from scrimmage as Devin Singletary broke off a 46-yard touchdown run to give the Bills a 7-0 lead that they would never relinquish.

The Bills forced a turnover on downs on the next drive and Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the game with a rib injury after taking a huge hit from AJ Epenesa. Epenesa turned in one of his best games as a pro and the defense continued to generate constant pressure all afternoon even after Jacoby Brissett entered the game.

The Bills followed up the turnover downs with another touchdown drive, capped off with the first Allen to Diggs touchdown of 2021, which came on a backyard football play. The two teams would spend the rest of the first half exchanging sloppy plays and turnovers.

Looking a little shaky in the first half, the Buffalo Bills’ offense came out of the second half looking to put an end to their third quarter woes. Brian Daboll scripted an excellent drive out of halftime and after receiving the kickoff, Josh Allen led the Bills on an eight play, 75-yard touchdown drive that was capped by a diving Dawson Knox touchdown and gave the Bills a commanding 21-0 lead.

Buffalo Bills defense continues to shine, while offense has work to do

The Bills’ defense continued to dominate, the offense picked things up, and before you knew it you were looking up at a 35-0 Bills lead.

While it wasn’t a flawless offensive performance they still managed to put up big points against a pretty good defensive opponent. This was a step in the right direction for the offense as they look to get back to last year’s form. It’s a good sign for the Bills’ long-term outcome that their offense just put up 35 points and it still feels like there is a lot of work to be done. Allen still looked out of rhythm with his receivers at times, and we could see Brian Daboll put more “layups” in the playbook next weekend to help his QB build confidence.

The story of the day was the defense who all said and done registered 6 total sacks of Miami quarterbacks, in one of the most dominant performances of the Sean McDermott era. The defensive ends routinely hurried and hit the QB, and rookie Greg Rousseau had his first huge performance, registering 2 sacks. All the key contributors stepped up at one point or another and the Bills put together their first shutout of the Sean McDermott era. Along with 6 sacks, the Bills defense also generated 3 turnovers, including a Levi Wallace interception in what was a critical get right game for him

The Bills will look to keep the good times rolling when they return home next week to take on the Washington Football Team.
