These are three players the Buffalo Bills will regret releasing this year.

The Buffalo Bills were able to get the roster down to 53 players on Tuesday but not without some tough decisions along the way. The talent on this roster was going to force this team to cut some good players.

When looking at the players released this week, there are three players who the team will regret cutting that don’t look like they will be returning to the Buffalo Bills this season.

Steven Sims

The Buffalo Bills added wide receiver Steven Sims late in training camp at a time where they had a number of question marks at slot receiver and returner. The team had Cole Beasley on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, Isaiah McKenzie had suffered a shoulder injury in practice and Marquez Stevenson was dealing with a foot injury.

The Bills were able to get through the final preseason game and released Steven Sims in the past few days. While Sims has his concerns, specifically ball control, he is a player that would have been a good addition to the practice squad because he provides depth and has good upside.

Shortly after the team announced their 53-man roster, the Bills moved Marquez Stevenson to injured reserve and this now leaves only Isaiah McKenzie as the primary returner on kickoffs and punts. If McKenzie suffers an injury, the Bills could get by with Micah Hyde on punt returns and Taiwan Jones on kickoffs but it certainly wouldn’t be ideal.

After his release, Steven Sims was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers to their practice squad and is a player the Buffalo Bills could miss at some point this season.
