Buffalo Bills: Breaking down the initial 53-man roster

Buffalo Bills Special Teams
Kicker: Tyler Bass
Punter: Matt Haack
There wasn’t a great deal of suspense here because the Bills didn’t bring in any competition at any position. The reason they didn’t is that these are three players the team is committed to.
Tyler Bass played very well as a rookie, especially as the season went on. He is a player the coaching staff should be very confident in as the team’s starting kicker.
As for Matt Haack, there were some concerns this preseason (particularly against the Bears) but he is one of the more accurate punters in the league. The Buffalo Bills are leaning into the idea that when the Bills offense is not going to have many three and outs and will need a punter who can pin the other team deep in a shortened field.
One name that is noticeably absent is Reid Ferguson, however, Sal Capaccio tweeted that he would be re-signed tomorrow. This likely means that a player who made the 53-man roster is going to head to injured reserve in the next day or so.

Even though the initial 53-man roster is set, the front office’s work is far from done as the Bills will place players on injured reserve, bring in free agents for the 53-man roster as well as build out their practice squad.
