These are three players who could be surprise cuts for the Buffalo Bills.

Every year when teams need to cut their roster down to 53 players they are faced with tough decisions that ultimately result in surprise cuts. These are players who could be contributors but for one reason or another, they just don’t fit on that roster.

The Buffalo Bills have one of their best rosters in recent years and with the depth they have, they are unfortunately going to be cutting some good players. When looking at this current roster, these are three players who aren’t necessarily likely to be cut but there could be situations where it makes sense.

Mario Addison

The Buffalo Bills pass rush has looked great this preseason led by the younger players at the position like A.J. Epenesa, Greg Rousseau, Boogie Basham, Darryl Johnson, and Efe Obada. At the top of the depth chart though is veterans Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison, two players who have yet to play in the preseason.

For the Bills, they are going to have some tough decisions to make at the defensive end position. It is unlikely they are going to keep seven defensive ends so that means they will need to cut at least one at the position.

While Mario Addison is a good veteran presence in the locker room, he is in the final year of his contract and towards the end of his career. After the NFL Draft, general manager Brandon Beane said that Addison was going to a part of this team this season and be a mentor for the younger players.

However, after what this group has shown in the first two preseason games it wouldn’t be surprising if the team was reassessing how they view the position and who fits on the depth chart.
