The Buffalo Bills were expected to make some roster moves this week as the next roster cutdown deadline is fast approaching. Most NFL teams will need to cut their roster down to 80 players by 4 PM on Tuesday however the Bills do have the roster exemption for Christian Wade so they will have 81 players.

On Monday, the Bills did make a few roster moves but they were actually to create space for two free-agent additions. The Bills signed running back Kerrith Whyte and cornerback Tim Lewis, who according to Aaron Wilson were two of five players to work out for the Bills. The other two players were Bo Scarborough, Nick Bawden, and Cameron Scarlett.

The corresponding moves the Bills made to add those two players were to waive Duke Williams with an injury designation and place Forrest Lamp on injured reserve. While the rules for injured reserve have changed over the years, the fact the Bills placed him on injured reserve before the season means he will need to remain there all season. The two sides could work out an injury settlement that would make him a free agent but regardless, he will not play for the Bills this year.

These are three initial thoughts from the moves by the Buffalo Bills on Monday.
