Buffalo Bills Bold Prediction #3: Marquez Stevenson keeps battle for starting returner going
The coaching staff would like to have their starters locked in after this game but that won’t be the case, at least for one position. The Buffalo Bills this offseason have been trying to find the replacement for Andre Roberts as the former three-time Pro Bowl returner left in free agency to join the Houston Texans.
At this point, the favorite to replace him is likely Isaiah McKenzie, who has experience both on kickoffs and punts, and is expected to have a role in this offense. The fact that McKenzie has this versatility puts him in a great position.
However, Marquez Stevenson is a player to watch and I believe has a chance to keep this battle going for at least one more week. The former University of Houston receiver is one of the most explosive players on the team and last week had three kick-off returns that averaged 24.7 yards per return. He also had a 42-yard reception on the team’s final drive to set them up in field goal position.
In the end, McKenzie is probably going to still win the job but it will not be due to a lack of competition from rookie Marquez Stevenson.
