Sean McDermott announced on Thursday that Josh Allen would sit out the Buffalo Bills second preseason game

The Buffalo Bills are preparing for their second preseason game of the season when they face the Chicago Bears Saturday afternoon. On Thursday, Sean McDermott announced that the team once again would be without quarterback Josh Allen.

The Bills held their franchise quarterback out of their first preseason game against the Detroit Lions. The fact that he once again will sit increases the likelihood that Allen will not take a snap the entire preseason.

This was something that seemed like a possibility based on how Josh Allen played last year and has had a great training camp. The Buffalo Bills have their sights set on the Super Bowl and will need Josh Allen to achieve that. It doesn’t make sense to open up their franchise quarterback to potential injuries where the games really don’t matter.

Mitchell Trubisky to get the start for the Buffalo Bills

While Josh Allen will miss his second straight preseason game, Mitchell Trubisky will get his second start this preseason. The start may not mean that much but if there was any doubt that Trubisky is the backup, it has to be erased with him once again being the first quarterback on the field for the Bills.

Even though wins and losses are fairly irrelevant in preseason games, this game certainly could have a little more meaning for Trubisky. The reason being he is going up against his former team, the Chicago Bears.

The Bears drafted Trubisky second overall in 2017 and while he did have some success, like starting two playoff games in his four-year career as well as making the Pro Bowl in 2018, he never took that next step as a franchise quarterback. Mitchell Trubisky has tried to avoid making comments about his former team but last week did say it was nice to ‘be somewhere people want you.’

This will be a game that Trubisky may be just a little more focused and make it a point to have a good game.
