Backup Linebacker

The Buffalo Bills does have a couple of locks to make this team at the linebacker position just like all the others. Tremaine Edmunds, Matt Milano, and A.J. Klein all have put themselves in a position to essentially be the team starting three linebackers. Outside of those guys, Tyler Matakevich has a really good shot of making the team as one of the best special teams players in all of football.

Behind those four the Buffalo Bills have the best competition at linebacker that has graced Orchard Park in years. Tyrel Dodson and Andre Smith look to make the roster again after showing strong promise last season while newcomers Tyrell Adams, Joe Giles-Harris, Marquel Lee, and Mike Bell all try and make their case as well.

Expect those guys who are locks to not play much against the Lions and this game to be very heavy with the guys in competition. One guy who will be behind in this race is Marquel Lee who found himself listed on the COVID-reserve list this week.

One name that you can expect to gain some ground against the Lions is Tyrell Adams. Adams was 12th in the entire league last year in tackles as a member of the Houston Texans. While he is no rising superstar he certainly showed he belongs in this league in is capable of being more than a backup. A preseason game against a team that does not have the strongest offense in terms of talent is a great matchup for Adams and one he could take advantage of.

Outside of Adams, do not sleep on Andre Smith, Tyrel Dodson, or Joe Giles-Harris who has had a fumble recovery and an interception on Day 7 of camp per Maddy Glab.
