These are four players to watch on the Buffalo Bills offense in the first preseason game.
Football is finally here for the Buffalo Bills as they will take the field on Friday night to face the Detroit Lions in the first preseason game of the 2021 season.
For the Buffalo Bills offense, the focus this preseason should really be to ensure players in position battles and backups at key positions get meaningful snaps and playing time. The Bills shouldn’t put players like Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs, and Cole Beasley on the field much in these preseason games, especially in the first preseason game of the year.
When looking at this side of the ball, these are four players fans should be paying close attention to against the Detroit Lions.
Cody Ford
One player that I will be paying close attention to is on the offensive line and that is guard Cody Ford. This season is an important one for the former second-round pick as he is in a battle for a starting job and trying to establish himself as a starting guard.
In his rookie season, Ford played right tackle for most of the season but last year he was moved inside to guard. He spent time at both right and left guard before having his season ended early due to a knee injury.
In this first preseason game, I will be watching for which side he lines up and whether or not it is with the first or second team. This should be a good indication of where he is in terms of recovery and whether he is the favorite in the position battle.
