Buffalo Bills: 5 players next in line for contract extensions
Stefon Diggs
Years left on current contract: 3 years
The last player may come as a surprise since Stefon Diggs still has three years left on his current contract. However, the Buffalo Bills are likely going to have to approach Diggs next offseason about restructuring his current deal so why not try to create some cap flexibility and at the same time ensure Josh Allen has his number one wide receiver past the 2023 season?
This past season certainly went better than anyone could have expected. In his first year with the Bills, Stefon Diggs went on to lead the league in receptions and receiving yards. The offense as a whole completely transformed and became one of the top passing attacks in the league.
This was one of the reasons why Stefon Diggs’ contract was considered the best value in the NFL by Pro Football Focus this offseason. The Bills wide receiver is likely going to be looking to be paid like one of the top wide receivers in the near future.
This is why a deal this offseason could be beneficial for both sides. Earlier this year, the Bills restructured Stefon Diggs’ contract that created about $8 million in cap space but also made his cap hit the next two seasons over $17 million.
They could try to find a deal that adds a few more years while giving Stefon Diggs a raise that is structured in a way that still gives Brandon Beane the flexibility to ensure the roster remains competitive.
