Buffalo Bills Starting QB: Nathan Peterman

After disgracing himself the year before, Nathan Peterman returned to Buffalo in 2018 looking to write a fairytale script. For the second straight season Peterman looked fantastic in preseason action and in 2018 it was enough for him to win the starting job over rookie Josh Allen.

With his big chance in Week 1, Peterman played the worst game of his NFL career, and that’s saying a lot because this is a guy who threw five interceptions in one half. While the Chargers game was awful for Peterman at least the offense was able to get an occasional first down which was not the case in the Baltimore game.

Peterman would not convert a single first down with his arms or his legs all day. Peterman would eventually get benched for Allen, finishing with a final line of 5/18, 24 yards, 0 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a record-low 0.0 QB rating. He would make one final start for the Bills (Peterman’s last stand), in Week 9 after injuries to both Josh Allen and Derek Anderson.

For once Peterman would stave off a mid-game benching but the game culminated in a 41-9 Bears victory. Peterman was cut by the Bills 10 days after the Bears game and was signed to the Raiders practice squad in December of 2018. The contract was later upgraded to a future/reserves contract and Peterman has remained on the Raiders roster for the last 2 years completing 3/5 passes. In February of 2021, Peterman signed a 1 year $1.025 million contract extension.
