Buffalo Bills trade away Ronald Darby

Brandon Beane didn’t waste much time in the beginning to rebuild this roster and prior to the 2017 NFL season, the Buffalo Bills general manager traded away two starters in two corresponding trades.

The first of two trades was sending Sammy Watkins, along with a 2018 sixth-round pick, to the Los Angeles Rams for cornerback E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second-round pick. Since the Bills had traded a wide receiver and had acquired a cornerback, the team then traded promising young cornerback Ronald Darby to the Eagles for wide receiver Jordan Matthews and a third-round pick.

It was the second trade that Beane probably wishes he could have back as the Bills have struggled to find an answer at the cornerback position opposite Tre’Davious White. Darby dealt with injuries during his time with the Eagles but this past season he bounced back with Washington and played all 16 games.

Instead, the Bills got a wide receiver in Jordan Matthews who only played in only 10 games in his one season with the team and had 25 receptions, 282 receiving yards, and one touchdown. This trade isn’t as bad as the other two trades but it is one Brandon Beane would likely want back.
