The Buffalo Bills add offensive line Caleb Benenoch with injuries starting to add up on the offensive line.
The Buffalo Bills entered training camp with great depth across the offensive line and that depth has certainly been tested early on. The team on Wednesday made a move to help this group by signing free agent Caleb Benenoch.
The Bills have been without offensive tackle Dion Dawkins and guard Ike Boettger for the entire training camp as both players tested positive and were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. The good news is that Sean McDermott did say on WGR550 both players are expected back this week, according to Sal Capaccio.
In addition to those two, Jon Feliciano missed Tuesday’s practice after suffering a shoulder injury. The Bills also were without Marquell Harrell, who suffered a foot injury according to Matthew Bove.
The Bills have been trying to help the offensive line since camp opened and last week they added Harrell, as well as Tyler Gauthier. However, with Harrell injuring his foot the Bills once again are short along the offensive line.
Caleb Benenoch is a versatile offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills
The addition of Caleb Benenoch is a smart one by the Buffalo Bills as he is an experienced offensive lineman that can play a number of positions. He entered the league in 2016 as a fifth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and after five starts in 2017 became the full-time starter at right guard in 2018. He started every game that season for the Bucs.
After stops with multiple teams, he recently was with the New England Patriots. He spent most of the season on their practice squad.
While a path to a spot on the 53-man roster would be tough for Caleb Benenoch, he does have a good chance at earning a spot on the practice squad. The depth on the Bills offensive line has been tested at times during the season and having an experienced offensive lineman on the practice squad would make sense.
