Robert Spillane

The last player is actually one that was with the Steelers last season but missed the game against the Buffalo Bills. He had suffered an injury the week prior and was placed on injured reserve.

Robert Spillane started the year as a reserve linebacker but stepped in as the starter when Devin Bush Jr. suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5. This season he is starting the year as the starting linebacker alongside Devin Bush Jr. as he replaces Vince Williams, who retired this offseason.

Spillane is more of a physical linebacker that should complement the more athletic Devin Bush Jr. well for the inside linebacker positions of this Steelers’ defense. Even though he is unproven, the Steelers appear set on moving forward with Spillane as the starter so it is worth taking a closer look at the inside linebacker during the Hall of Fame game.
