Buffalo Bills starting safeties

Micah Hyde

Overall Rating: 88

Position Rank: 13th among safeties

Jordan Poyer

Overall Rating: 87

Position Rank: 14th among safeties

The next two players are the Buffalo Bills starting safeties, Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. There was an indication that these two players were going to be rated too low when EA Sports released their Top 10 safeties and neither player made the list.

In all honesty, this isn’t surprising as these two players seemingly are overlooked on a yearly basis, and the fact that Jordan Poyer has not made the Pro Bowl is disappointing. This past season was arguably his best since joining the Bills and he finished as the league-leading tackler at the position.

These two safeties are a strength for this secondary and defense as a whole. The skillset these two bring complement each other very well as they both can do anything asked from a safety but have their strengths with Poyer a better box safety and Hyde as a deep safety.

There isn’t much difference between Hyde and Poyer from the top-rated safety (Budda Baker, 93) but both players should be higher and closer to 90 in this year’s version of the game.
