Buffalo Bills have their first training camp fight of the year
Would it really be a Buffalo Bills training camp if there wasn’t at least one fight?
The answer to that question is no. On July 30th, defensive lineman Ed Oliver and 2021 third-round pick Spencer Brown get into a tussle, as reported by Sal Capaccio via Twitter. As punches flew, Oliver took off Brown’s helmet during the altercation.
Brown then took Oliver to the ground where there was a pile that formed on top of the two who were fighting but was then broken up. Oliver does have that unfortunate event from his past where he snapped at his college coach on the sidelines after he was told he couldn’t wear a jacket that was reserved for players who were playing in the game (Oliver did not play).
For Brown, this is and was a “welcome to the NFL moment”. The third-rounder out of Northern Iowa will definitely learn that Oliver is not to be messed with.
This incident follows the one from earlier in the year when A.J. Epenesa intercepted Josh Allen in OTA’s and returned it to the house. Jon Feliciano ran him down and words were exchanged before the fists started flying.
Once again, this is nothing to worry about. Competition can get heated during practices, and that’s what you want your team to be doing. Not necessarily fighting, but playing hard and clean within the whistle. Stuff like this will happen from time to time, but it’s good to know that they care and are giving it their all.
Sometimes, emotions take over on a summer day. The Buffalo Bills will only be better as a result of these events. They will come together and be ready for the season when they get to hit a jersey of a different color.
