EA Sports began revealing the ratings of the Top 10 players from each position in Madden NFL 22 throughout this past week. Perhaps the most anticipated reveal for Buffalo Bills fans was the quarterbacks. Bills fans were looking forward to seeing where Josh Allen would stack up against his fellow signal callers.

The ratings of the quarterbacks were released on Friday, and here are the Top 10 quarterbacks in Madden 22.

Patrick Mahomes: 99

Tom Brady: 97

Aaron Rodgers: 96

Russell Wilson: 94

Lamar Jackson: 90

Deshaun Watson: 90

Josh Allen: 88

Dak Prescott: 87

Ryan Tannehill: 87

Matt Ryan: 85

Josh Allen’s rating should not be this low

Josh Allen’s rating of 88 is lower than it should be, but that is magnified by the fact that Lamar Jackson is rated two points higher than Allen.

An argument can be made as to why any of the other quarterbacks that received a higher rating than Allen are better, but Jackson stands out amongst the six quarterbacks rated higher than Allen.

Some will use the reasoning that Jackson was the MVP in 2019 and has made the playoffs in all three years. However, using that reasoning is flawed because it fails to acknowledge several key points in favor of Josh Allen.

Jackson was still solid in 2020, but he was not really all that close to his 2019 numbers. In 2019, Jackson threw for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns, six interceptions, ran for 1,206 yards, and had a 113.3 passer rating. Compare that to 2020, where Jackson threw for 2,757 yards, 26 touchdowns, nine interceptions, ran for 1,005 yards, and had a 99.3 passer rating.

Josh Allen’s 2020 passing numbers were significantly better than Jackson’s in 2020. Allen threw for 4,544 yards, 37 touchdowns, ten interceptions, and a 107.2 passer rating. Allen nearly matched Jackson’s 2019 passing yardage, coming just 38 yards shy.

It is hard to justify rating Jackson higher than Allen when Allen led the third-best passing offense in the NFL in 2020, while Jackson’s passing offense finished dead last; even behind the New York Jets.

Next. 4 players the Bills should not play in preseason. dark

As quarterbacks, it is hard to make an argument that Lamar Jackson is better than Josh Allen. That is not knocking Lamar Jackson, he still belongs in the Top 10. It is more about the hesitation of the creators of Madden 22 to consider Josh Allen amongst the best of the best at the quarterback position.
