The greatest Buffalo Bills player to wear #45:

Coming to Western New York after spending five years with the Los Angeles Rams, Bill Simpson had an effective three years in the red, white, and blue.  He had four picks each year for a total of 12, and Simpson also added three more in the two years the team made the playoffs.

Simpson’s most memorable play came on December 28th, 1981. The Bills had opened a 24-0 lead over the New York Jets. This combined with bad weather led most Jets fans to go home. Long story short, the Bills nearly choked that 24-point lead until Simpson intercepted Jets QB Richard Todd in the endzone to seal the win.

Thanks to Simpson’s efforts, the Bills snuck into the playoffs for a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. It would be a back-and-forth game that the Bengals would win, thanks to a Ken Anderson pass to Cris “Now here’s a guy” Collinsworth.
