The greatest Buffalo Bills player to wear #39:

Benedictine (Kansas NAIA). 39. player. 16. . . Running Back. Jamie Mueller

Number 39 was one of those numbers where anyone could have been up here. Out of the 12 players that have worn it, Mueller is the best of the dozen. Mueller played college ball at Benedictine college in Kansas, an NAIA school. Mueller’s 6-1, 225-pound frame made him look more like a traditional fullback at the time.

Mueller was on the team for its first-ever appearance in the Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants. Mueller only got one carry for three yards.

His time with the Bills would be short, as a back injury slowed him down. The Bills originally were going to let him heal and get better and be ready for the season. However, the next day an injury settlement was offered to Mueller.

Angry, Mueller rejected that offer and told the Bills he’d never play for them again, and the rest is history. Mueller currently lives in Missouri.
