Mitch Morse is the right center for the Buffalo Bills in 2021.

The Buffalo Bills were potentially heading towards different pieces on the offensive line in 2021 and one of those changes were releasing Mitch Morse.

The Bills signed Morse as a free agent in 2019 and made him one of the highest paid centers in the NFL. While he has played well at times, the Bills would need to free up some cap space this offseason and one potential way was to release their starting center.

In the end, they were able to keep Morse after the two sides agreed to a new deal that saw Morse reduce his salary in 2021 and free up $3 million in cap space. This is good news as Morse is the right center for this offense and what the Buffalo Bills hope to achieve in 2021.

Expectations for the 2021 season with the Buffalo Bills

The reason that Mitch Morse is the right center for the Buffalo Bills is that while he struggles in run blocking, he excels as a pass blocker. According to Pro Football Focus, Morse has never had a season where he has graded above 70.0 as a run blocker but has never fallen below 70.0 as a pass blocker.

The biggest concern entering this season is whether or not Morse can stay on the field. He has played only one full 16 game season in the past four years. If he is able to stay on the field for every game, when considering the fact that the team is expected to lean heavily on Josh Allen and their deep wide receiver group in 2021, the skill set that Morse brings to the offensive line makes him a great fit.
