Assistant Special Teams Coach: Matthew Smiley

Matthew Smiley bounced around the college ranks and to the Jacksonville Jaguars before he landed with Buffalo in 2017. Since then, Smiley has served as the Assistant Special Teams coach helping Buffalo consistently be one of the best special teams groups in the NFL. Smiley has a history of working with specialists and has done a great job for Buffalo maximizing the ability of their specialists.

Last season both Tyler Bass and Corey Bojorquez had fantastic years and Buffalo was able to capitalize on their talents all last season. Smiley has put together so many great years as an assistant special teams coach that he could likleymove away from the organization in the coming years when the right opportunity arises. Expect Smiley to become a Head Special Teams Coach somewhere in the NFL sooner rather than later.
