Star Lotulelei

2021 Cap Hit: $7,600,000

2022 Cap Hit: $9,350,000

2022 Cap Savings: $4,250,000

Star Lotulelei is similar to a player like Mitch Morse in the fact that what he brings to a team isn’t adequately captured in a box score. Last season, the Bills defense didn’t have their starting defensive tackle after he opted out and the defense clearly missed him.

During offseason workouts, Jordan Poyer talked about why Star Lotulelei is important and how he does the little things that help the other players around him be successful. It is going to be interesting to see Lotulelei back on the field and if the Bills defense can rebound to being one of the top defenses in the NFL.

However, if Star Lotulelei is not able to return to the level he played at in 2019, the Buffalo Bills may need to move on after this season. He will be 34 years old entering next season and even though he would have two more years left on his contract, this may be the offseason for the Buffalo Bills to find a long-term solution.
