What can Buffalo Bills fans expect from offensive lineman Syrus Tuitele as a rookie?

The Buffalo Bills invested heavily in the offensive line during the 2021 NFL Draft by selecting Spencer Brown, Tommy Doyle, and Jack Anderson with three of their seven draft picks. However, they didn’t stop there and signed undrafted rookie Syrus Tuitele shortly after the NFL Draft.

With the depth the team has on the offensive line, the question will be whether or not he can make enough of an impact to find a roster spot coming out of training camp?

Syrus Tuitele played for Fresno State University and in four seasons played in 35 games, mostly all at right tackle.

Expectations for the 2021 season with the Buffalo Bills

It appears that even though Tuitele has most of his experience at right tackle, the Buffalo Bills envision him more of being a guard. That is his position currently listed on the roster on the team’s site but having experience at offensive tackle could help his chances.

He also fits the physical profile that general manager Brandon Beane is looking for with big offensive linemen. At 6’6″, he is one of the tallest at the position group being only two inches shorter than Tommy Doyle but the same height as Daryl Williams, Mitch Morse, Jordan Devey, and Ike Boettger.

Even with that potential position flexibility, and fitting the physical profile, he is going to have a significant uphill climb to earn a roster spot. The Buffalo Bills have great depth along the offensive line and the most likely scenario is that Syrus Tuitele does enough to earn a spot on the practice squad.

If Syrus Tuitele’s time is only limited to training camp, one matchup to watch for is with A.J. Epenesa. These two are cousins and it would be fun to watch them go against one another.
