Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen ‘most physically gifted’ in NFL according to analyst
This week, Greg Cosell filled in for Peter King on his weekly article and had some interesting commentary on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Cosell has been a part of NFL Films for over four decades and is a regular on NFL Matchup on ESPN.
He has watched more than his fair share of film and broken down plenty of football, so his analysis carries weight. In this week’s article, Cosell wrote that he doesn’t just think but believes it is a fact that Josh Allen is the most physically gifted quarterback in the NFL.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that Allen is the best quarterback but at a time where the league has quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes, this is a big compliment. Cosell mentions that when discussing physically gifted quarterbacks, the name John Elway is usually the first name that is brought up.
The fact that Cosell says that Josh Allen is the most intriguing quarterback he has evaluated speaks volumes of the potential the Buffalo Bills quarterback possesses.
"The name that often comes up, and rightly so, when the talk is of the most physically talented quarterbacks of all time is John Elway. Allen is a much bigger man than Elway. Allen is the most intriguing quarterback I have watched and evaluated in all my years at NFL Films. It would not surprise me at all if we soon call Allen the most physically gifted quarterback the league has ever seen. Stay tuned."
The physical tools have always been there for Josh Allen and were one of the big reasons the Buffalo Bills traded up to draft him seventh overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He is a big body quarterback at 6’5″ and 240 pounds and has incredible arm strength.
The question was always whether he could develop the finer details of being a quarterback, like his accuracy throwing the ball. He certainly answered that this past season by completing nearly 70% of his passes.

There is no question that Josh Allen is on an upward trajectory and if those other facets of playing quarterback continue to improve, with his physical gifts, the Buffalo Bills quarterback has a chance to be special for a franchise that has been desperately searching for a quarterback since the days Jim Kelly.
