For close to two decades, the Buffalo Bills had to deal with Tom Brady as a member of the New England Patriots. However, last offseason Brady decided to become a free agent for the first time in his career and went through the process of finding the next best franchise to continue his career.

During that time, he spoke to a number of teams and this week made some news with some comments made on ‘The Shop’ on HBO. The opening scene of the video that Bleacher Report tweeted shows Tom Brady’s disbelief that a team was electing to stay with their current quarterback.

The speculation began to pick up trying to figure out exactly who the team was and the quarterback they were sticking with. Colin Cowherd recently was talking about Brady’s comment and shared his theory.

Cowherd concluded that it was the Chicago Bears and the quarterback was Mitchell Trubisky:

However, on Saturday Mike Florio with Pro Football Talk reported that a source told him that Brady was not referring to the Bears or Trubisky.

It certainly would not have been surprising for Brady to have the reaction he did if the Chicago Bears had elected to pass on bringing in one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game and stick with Trusbisky. While the Bears had invested the second overall pick in 2017 in Trubisky, he didn’t show enough in his career to warrant that decision.

This past season didn’t go any better and Trubisky became a free agent after the season. The Buffalo Bills decided to sign Trubisky to a one-year deal that is being described as a reset for the former first round pick.

In the end, it certainly worked out for Tom Brady as he would join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and go on to win his seventh Super Bowl title. However, it still begs the question of which franchise decided to stop pursuing Tom Brady in free agency last year.
