It’s time for more Pro Football Focus ratings!

Pro Football Focus (PFF) rankings have been a hot debate topic this summer, as they have sparked a lot of conversation around some of their rankings. This time each team’s best and worst contracts were covered, and you can probably already guess which one landed as the best contract.

Stefon Diggs and his contract were selected as the best overall contract. With the restructuring work that went on to allow for a good chunk of cap space to come free, it was an easy choice. The runners up were Tre’Davious White and Dion Dawkins. PFF stated that getting their contracts done before other free agent players at their position helped the Buffalo Bills avoid those other players “setting the market” with big signings.

If you look closely, you’ll see there is a Carolina Panthers trend in here from head coach Sean McDermott, who got his start in the NFL down south. That can be seen in the coaches and players on the team. One former Panther, Mario Addison was chosen to have the teams’ worst contract.

At three years and $30.45M, Addison didn’t get a nice grade by PFF and he paid for it by watching the team select two defensive linemen with their first two picks in this year’s draft. It will be interesting to see how many snaps each of these three linemen get against each other.

Fans will undoubtedly like to see Gregory Rousseau sooner than later, and the same goes for Carlos “Boogie” Basham, the team’s 2nd round pick out of Wake Forest. If all of them produce, then it’ll take some balancing act by Brandon Beane to make sure they stick around.

Otherwise, the future is young and bright on the defensive line, and thanks to Diggs, the Buffalo Bills can still add a player of need later this year if it’s necessary.
