How the Buffalo Bills defensive assistant coaches impact the team
The Buffalo Bills defense took a slight step back in 2020.
Headed into the season, fans and opponents thought the Buffalo Bills were lead primarily by their defense. However, that script flipped as the offense became the most potent side of the ball and the defense took a step back from their fantastic 2019 season.
Led by Head Coach Sean McDermott, the Bills defense had been the better group for McDermott’s entire tenure. McDermott got his start in Carolina under Ron Rivera, and McDermott has had a very successful defense in Buffalo. However, in 2020 McDermott along with players themselves were disappointed with their overall yearly performance.
Although the defense had a “down” they remain an extremely talented group who is more than capable of helping Buffalo win games. In the playoffs, against the Patriots, and against the Steelers during the season Bill’s defense came up huge making plays that effectively won them games. This group expects to bounce back in 2021 behind the same leadership and coaching they have had the past couple of seasons.
