Best Buffalo Bills player to wear #12: Jim Kelly, Quarterback

This was an easy one. Jim Kelly, arguably the greatest Buffalo Bills player ever takes home the top spot. Kelly caused controversy by choosing to play for the Houston Gamblers of the USFL instead of the Bills as he liked the weather more in Houston than in Buffalo. Kelly lit up the USFL, throwing for over 9,000 yards and 83 touchdowns. Kelly didn’t make his official debut with the team until 1986 due to his stint with the USFL.

While he got out to a rough start in Buffalo, the persistence of Kelly was the reason the team started to rack up wins, ultimately going to four-straight Super Bowls. Despite not winning any of them, that record of four straight AFC Championships is a record that will most likely never be broken.

The only other mentionable name who wore the 12 jersey was Daryle Lamonica, who’d win two AFL titles with the Bills, and then another with the Oakland Raiders as they would go on to play in Super Bowl II against the Green Bay Packers.
