The Buffalo Bills must watch out for the Miami Dolphins.

Yes, that’s right. The Miami Dolphins are one of the teams that can knock off the Bills in the playoffs. We all know the last time these two met with playoff implications that Miami had their doors blown off and it wasn’t a game past the second quarter. However, the ‘fins can arguably ruin Buffalo’s championship dreams, and here’s why:

The familiarity and benefits of playing in the same division

Being able to get two matchups with each of your division rivals makes for a better chance of winning. Now the results wouldn’t show it last year, but the first matchup between these two was a very close game and the Dolphins showed they could compete. Of course, that was with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, but Tua has upgraded weapons in Jaylen Waddle, and (when healthy and after serving a 1 game suspension) Will Fuller V will improve the production for Miami.

It’s hard to beat a team three times in a season

Since 1970, there have been 20 times that two teams have played 3 games in one season. Per ESPN, the team that wins the first two games won the postseason matchup 13/20 times. That’s a 65% odd boost in your favor. There was also the 2009 season where the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals played 3 games, but it was a rare pre-season/regular/postseason matchup. The Cardinals got the final laugh, 51-45 in a crazy wildcard game.

The seven times it did happen they were obviously upsets. Not to mention Brian Flores has gotten that defense to work so well for him and if they can continuously put together great outings, then this will remain a threat to the Bills if they meet in the playoffs.
