Another player who could have a breakout year due in part to the return of Star Lotulelei is Ed Oliver. The former Top 10 pick has had his struggles the first two years but has also shown flashes that make you believe he is right there in terms of breaking out.

This past season in particular was a tough year to gauge where Ed Oliver is in terms of development. The reason is that Oliver’s strength is as a player who can penetrate the offensive line and make plays in the backfield, either on runs or pressing the quarterback.

However, without Lotulelei last year the Bills had to have Oliver play more one-tech. This is not necessarily something he struggled with but certainly wasn’t his strength. He didn’t have as many opportunities to get into the backfield since he was asked to be that anchor for the line.

Now entering his third season in the league, combined with him returning to be a three-tech defensive tackle, he should be set up for a breakout year.
