The Buffalo Bills didn’t draft any tight ends during the 2021 NFL Draft but did add Quintin Morris as an undrafted free agent. This is a player that the Buffalo Bills saw during the 2021 Senior Bowl and kept him on their radar through the draft process. Let’s take a look at what he brings to the team and how he might fit on the Bills.

Measurables/Stats

Height: 6’2″

Weight: 252 pounds

Quintin Morris started at Bowling Green State as a wide receiver in 2017 and would play wide receiver his first three years there. During those seasons, Morris finished with 105 receptions, 1,281 receiving yards, and 13 touchdowns. The best season he had at Bowling Green was in 2019 with 55 receptions, 649 receiving yards, and four touchdowns.

However, he made a position switch this past season and played tight end. He finished the season with 20 receptions, 248 receiving yards, and no touchdowns in five games.

The Draft Network Scouting Report

"As a run blocker, Morris is able to provide versatility as he can satisfy duties from the in-line, wing, and flexed out positions. Used in multiple spots, he has experience as a blocker from multiple types of surfaces. In the passing game, his route tree was limited to a distinct group, but he’s fully capable of doing more."

How he fits with the Buffalo Bills

Last year, the Buffalo Bills had an undrafted free agent make the 53-man roster as a tight end with Reggie Gilliam. However, this year Morris may have a tough time making it the second consecutive year that an undrafted free agent tight end earns a roster spot.

The biggest reason is that Gilliam made the roster due in large part to his play on special teams and the Bills likely can’t afford to have two tight ends essentially playing the same role.

While he is unlikely to make the active roster, he certainly could earn a spot on the practice squad. The tight end position is far from settled for the Buffalo Bills, especially depending on how Dawson Knox plays this season. A year of development for Quintin Morris could potentially give him the chance to compete for a spot next year.
