Now that most of the free agency spending is complete and the 2021 NFL Draft is officially over, the majority of the Buffalo Bills roster is set. There certainly will be more additions between now and training camp and there could be a few veterans that are released that the Bills may pursue. However, for the most part, the coaching staff knows what the roster is going to look like for this coming season.

The challenge for the Bills is with a roster like this, they are going to have a tough time cutting down to 53 players by the start of the regular season. If the regular season was to start today, this is what the 53-man roster may look like for the Buffalo Bills.

Josh Allen, Mitchell Trubisky

At the top of the depth chart there isn’t much mystery here as Josh Allen will return as the starter and Mitchell Trubisky, who signed as a free agent, will be the backup this season. The questions begin with whether or not they keep two or three players on the active roster.

This past season the Bills did keep three but this was due to the pandemic as Jake Fromm served as the emergency quarterback for the team in case of an outbreak. Prior to 2020 though the Bills have typically only kept two quarterbacks on the active roster and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them return to this as they need that extra roster spot at other positions.
