Tua Tagovailoa- can he steal a win against the Buffalo Bills?

Tagovailoa didn’t play in week 2 last year in the first meeting of these two teams, the game that was close the entire way. The starter for that 31-28 decision in favor of Buffalo was Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is now a part of the Washington Football Team.

The game Tagovailoa did play in was the 56-26 regular-season finale in which the Bills beat the lights out of the Dolphins and even packed their bags to deny them a postseason berth.  Had the Dolphins not only come away with a field goal in the first quarter, the rest of the game may have been different as Buffalo was “all gas, no brakes” and scored at will.

Drafting the speedster Jaylen Waddle out of Alabama is another investment piece into the offense. His pairing along with Will Fuller IV and DeVante Parker makes for a stacked starting three. TE Mike Gesicki should further benefit from the skill acquired. Malcolm Brown coming over from the Los Angeles Rams gives them an actual known name in the backfield, and Brown should be an instant starter.

Tagovailoa posted this stat line below for his nine games played on the season. Not too bad for a rookie that had really no control over his playing time. However, I think we can expect a great season from Tagovailoa this year. Maybe not so much of a Pro Bowl lock, but he will lead the Dolphins to the playoffs this year.

So can he beat the Buffalo Bills?

I’ll give him a slight yes to take maybe one game from the Bills. However, if that happens then Buffalo would have to have had a very tough day against Brian Flores’ defense that developed faster than anyone expected it to. Plus Miami is trotting out co-offensive coordinators, a unique move. The score would probably have to be a back-and-forth final of 34-31, similar to his duel in the desert against Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals last year.
